"An Ye Harm None, Do as Ye Will"
The Wiccan Rede is pretty much Wicca's only rule. It states, "an ye harm none, do as ye will" and it means that you can pretty much do anything you want as long as you don't cause any harm to anything or anyone. It is a very universal rule as it is similar to the golden rule of the bible, karma to the Hindus and basic common sense to society. The key principle is that if you are nice and loving to others, then others will be nice and loving to you, but if you are cruel to others, they will not want to be nice to you. This principal was adopted by the father of Wicca himself, Gerald Gardner, for the reason that when using magic, you are more connected to the divine and so karma will hit you harder than somebody who isn't using magic. That is where the Rule of Three comes into play. The rule of three is based on the assumption that if you cast a spell, karma will come back at you 3 times harder. Now that is not necessarily a bad thing because if you cast a spell for an innocent purpose (protection spell, healing spell, etc) that will come back to you 3 times harder. So in theory, if you cast a healing spell on a relative, you will be healed 3 times better, but if you cast a curse on somebody then you will be cursed 3 times as worse. So next time you get really angry at somebody and you are considering casting a curse on him or her, Just think about the worst possible scenario of how the spell will end up because that's probably how its gonna happen.
